INEC ASSURES OF HITCH FREE ELECTIONS IN PLATEAU

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that it conducts a better election in the coming general elections.  
  Plateau state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Habu Zarma said this during a meeting with various groups seeking support on strategies to sensitise and mobilise citizens for effective participation in elections.
Issues ranging from permanent voters cards, delimitation of electoral constituents, guidelines for political parties, and lists of registered and de-registered political parties as well as the electoral commission’s strategic plan document were discussed at the meeting.
The meeting, held in Jos, had in attendance political parties, civil society organisations and professional bodies.
INEC launched the strategic plan document that will manage electoral processes better and optimise organisational systems and structures for optimal performance towards the successful conduct of the 2015 general elections.
The commission assured of adequate provision that will accommodate and address issues without excluding displaced persons affected during crisis from voting.
Participants at the meeting expressed fears on the implementation of the guidelines and urged the commission to embark on sensitisation exercise on the commission’s activities.
Politicians were also encouraged to cooperate with the electoral body in order to have hitch free elections.
